Prayer
Rooted in the Gospel, our community gathers in prayer across Lagos, Abuja, Kano and beyond — the wellspring from which every act of service and pursuit of peace flows.
The Poor
We walk beside those society has forgotten: street children in Makoko, families in IDP camps, the elderly, and refugees. With friendship and presence, not just programmes.
Peace
Through patient dialogue — between Christians and Muslims, communities and government — we build lasting peace across Nigeria's 12 states where we are present.

A Community of Prayer,
Friendship & Peace.
"Our way of service is through friendship and not through material things. We walk with the poor through solidarity, friendship and faith-inspired action."— Prince Henry Ezeike, National Representative, Sant'Egidio Nigeria
Founded in Rome in 1968, Sant'Egidio is present in over 70 countries. In Nigeria, our community has been present for over 25 years — uniting men, women, children and teenagers of all backgrounds across more than 12 states, bound by the Gospel and a shared commitment to those on the margins.

Born in Goma, DR Congo on 13 June 1981, Floribert Bwana Chui encountered Sant'Egidio in 2001 and devoted his life to street children. In 2007, as a customs officer at the Rwanda border, he refused to approve a shipment of spoiled rice that would have endangered public health — and was killed for it. He was beatified in Rome on 15 June 2025 as the first African martyr killed because of corruption. Our community house in Abuja is dedicated to his memory.
